The Bahia de la Luna Hotel offers a wide array of activities for our guests – all consistent with our deep awareness of and sensitivity to our unique local setting and ecology.

Relaxing on our pristine sands and swimming in the calm, clean waters of our sheltered bay are sublime, sensual delights at the very heart of Bahia de la Luna Hotel experience. To facilitate, we provide our guests with beach chairs, mats, hammocks, and large beach towels.

Curious and adventuresome guests can enjoy, free of charge, snorkeling gear and sit-on-top sea kayaks with which to explore the reefs, rocky islets and hidden beaches of the surrounding area. You can also take one of the paths or rugged trails that lead through dense forests rich with local wildlife up to high promontories with panoramic coastal views. The sea-life here is abundant and benign, ranging from sea turtles coming ashore under the new moon, to leaping manta rays, sails fish, dolphins, gray whales and even pods of orca – at times visible from the beach. You might see local divers emerge from the water with small octopus, scallops and spiny lobster.

Wildlife – particularly birdlife – is rich and diverse, with kestrels, sea osprey, kerns, pelicans and even eagles providing visual punctuation to the clear skies and clean waters. And for those who wish to explore the natural environment further from the hotel we gladly arrange escorted cruises, snorkeling and diving adventures, whale-, turtle- and bird-watching trips, deep sea fishing, surfing and hikes through dense tropical forests to cool mountain springs and waterfalls.

While many guests prefer the seclusion of the hotel, trips to popular places along the nearby Oaxacan coast are easily arranged. The beaches of Zipolite, San Agustinillo, Mazunte and Huatulco, all less than 40 minutes away, give an opportunity to sample local ambiance, enjoy restaurants of all kinds, listen to live music and consort with Mexican and international tourists in a sometimes clothing optional setting... In addition we can organize trips to tour coffee plantations on the jungle shrouded slopes of the Sierra Madre del Sur, or to the quaint fishing village of Puerto Angel and the bustling public market of San Pedro Pochutla to see and experience the local products and lifestyle of Oaxacans.

The Bahia de la Luna Hotel has a lovely open-air yoga, art and meditation studio on site and can organize on- or off-site workshops with professional instructors.
